Wind

Iowa is the third largest producer of wind energy in the US, just behind Texas and California. Our state’s topography and electric transmission lines combine for a wind energy friendly environment.

Iowans continue to take advantage of the wind’s natural energy and the Iowa Energy Center encourages its development by supporting wind research and demonstration projects, providing up-to-date education sources, and by establishing an online wind assessment study and turbine calculator. The Energy Center also encourages the construction of renewable energy production facilities in Iowa through the Alternate Energy Revolving Loan Program (AERLP).
