Summary

Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities has been working with the Iowa Economic Development Authority to respond to a Department of Energy (DOE) Funding opportunity announcement to reduce solar “soft costs” in Iowa. This 30-month project would fund the development of innovative local government tools, workshops and specific assistance to pilot communities all designed to reduce the soft costs of installing distributed solar PV and accelerate the development of the distributed PB market in Iowa. Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities is required to provide a 20% match of its project costs and is seeking half of the match (10% of its overall project costs) from the Iowa Energy Center.

Summary

A team of 19 senior researchers from 8 institutions was assembled to prepare a proposal to the USDOE to establish an Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) on Achieving Stability in Organic Energy Materials and Structures. The Letter of Intent was submitted on November 13, 2013 and the full propoal is due on January 9, 2014. This major proposal, requesting $3M-$3.5M per year for 5 years requires a technical narrative as well as a detailed management plan. Summary

The Iowa Renewable Energy Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1992. Its mission is to educate Iowans about the production and use of sustainable energy. To accomplish this mission, our organization has an annual Energy EXPO, bringing together energy professionals and the general public for sixteen years. In addition, we hold workshops during the year at various locations throughout Iowa, demonstrating, again, the production of renewable energy. We hold tours of buildings that use energy efficiently, renewable energy facilities and more of Iowa’s great “energy” places.
