  • Call for RFP’s: Iowa Energy Center’s Competitive Grant Programs

A year ago the Iowa Energy Center introduced three new competitive grant programs that are  helping Iowa organizations be more successful in competing for external funding to further the environmental, social, and economic well-being of Iowans through improved energy efficiency measures and alternate energy technology. Based on the success of those programs, which have helped bring new investments to Iowa, the center has renewed its requests for proposals for another year.

When Iowa organizations pursue external funding opportunities being offered by industry, federal agencies, non-government organizations, or other sponsors, the Energy Center can assist in three ways:

Our planning grants provide funding for activities specifically aimed at bringing potential partners together to strategize, plan, or execute a response to a known or likely external funding opportunity.

Our opportunity grants support near-term projects, such as proof-of-concept tests, early experimentation, economic viability analyses, preliminary studies, and comprehensive literature surveys, necessary to strengthen Iowa proposals to external funding agencies.

Our matching grants assist eligible institutions in meeting matching or cost-sharing requirements for external funding opportunities.

These competitive grants can be used to support energy research, technology development, demonstration, deployment, education, and workforce and community development, and are open to Iowa-based nonprofit groups such as universities, colleges, energy organizations, and community-based groups. The current requests for proposals are open through June 30th, 2015.
