The Iowa Energy Center would like to welcome Troy Barker, who will serve as the facility mechanic at the Biomass Energy Conversion Facility (BECON).
“Alternative energy is a new and interesting area for me,” Mr. Barker said. “I have a lot to learn but I know I will enjoy the process.” Mr. Barker’s primary responsibilities at BECON will be facility maintenance, preventative maintenance work, and electrical systems management. Because his job covers a wide variety of tasks, flexibility and a day-by-day attitude will be key.
“I was drawn to BECON because it is a new work opportunity with a wide range of responsibilities,” Mr. Barker said.
Prior to the Iowa Energy Center, Mr. Barker worked at Lincolnway Energy, LLC, John Deere, and Sauer-Danfoss. He is certified as an electrician and received an associate degree in robotics from Des Moines Area Community College.
Mr. Barker stays busy as the father of fourteen-year-old triplets, a volunteer firefighter at the Nevada Fire Department, and a member of a local bowling league.
