Marty is the office coordinator and fiscal officer for the Iowa Energy Center, handling financial reporting, operational budgeting, human resources, and other administrative functions.

Originally from Tennessee, Marty obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University.  After college he worked for a major multi-national accounting firm, and earned his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1988.  He spent over 20 years in healthcare finance and administration, serving as CFO of a variety of healthcare entities from under $20 million to over $2 billion in revenue, and as management consultant focused on integration of acquisitions for healthcare facilities.  After serving as CEO of a multi-state, multi specialty physician group, and traveling weekly to Salt Lake City, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, Marty decided to get off the road and enrolled at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity degree in May of 2013.

Outside of his Iowa Energy Center responsibilities, Marty serves as priest in charge of Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Christian Church in Ames.  He is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator and a trained weather spotter, as well as a photographer, who enjoys traveling the Great Plains in search of the perfect landscape.
