Grants & Funding
The Iowa Energy Center conducts and sponsors research and projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency through three programs:
Competitive Grants
Through the Competitive Grant Program the Energy Center awards funds to Iowa-based, nonprofit groups to conduct energy-related research, demonstration and education projects. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis through periodic Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Projects under this program range in size and complexity. They are conducted throughout the state by investigators at Iowa’s three major universities, colleges, community colleges and at nonprofit energy organizations and community-based educational groups.

Youth and Energy Scholarships
The Energy Center awards scholarships to Iowa high school students at the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa (http://www.sciencefairofiowa.org/) for exceptional energy-related projects. Scholarship funds will be provided directly to the college of the student’s choice.
Loan Program (AERLP)
The Alternate Energy Revolving Loan Program (AERLP) is a zero interest financing program encouraging the construction of renewable energy production facilities in Iowa.
