Connecting Today’s Bottom Line with a Sustainable Future: Our Growing Commitment
February 25-26, 2013
2013 kicks off the fifth year of Iowa State University’s Live Green! intiative and the call to action given to all students, faculty, and staff to be fully committed to and engaged in ensuring a sustainable future through our actions and decisions regarding our campus, its operations, and initiatives. This year’s Symposium on Sustainability focuses on the integral connection sustainability has to campus and the community in terms of sustaining the bottom line and building a sustainable future.
This year’s event begins on Monday, February 25, 2013, with the 2nd Annual Sustainapalooza event from 5-7pm followed by an evening lecture from Charles Fishman, award-winning investigative and magazine journalist and author of The Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water, and a poster reception. The event continues on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, from 8:15am-12:30pm and includes a keynote panel presentation featuring sustainability leaders from Iowa-based corporations, presentations highlighting campus initiatives in sustainable energy and sustainability in curriculum, and the presentation of the Live Green Awards for Excellence in Sustainability.

Call for Posters
Poster abstracts are encouraged from all campus activities and projects including research, administration, operations, students/student organizations, community, and personal initiatives that support and further sustainability and the Live Green Initiative.
Deadline to submit Poster Submission Forms is February 15, 2013.
The Live Green Awards for Excellence in Sustainability recognize Iowa State University faculty, staff, and students who are making an impact on the campus sustainability efforts by generating awareness and interest through initiatives that focus on teaching, research, outreach and/or operations.
Deadline to submit Nomination Forms is February 12, 2013.
