Why be energy efficient?
There are many reasons to be energy efficient. As a homeowner for example, there are financial motivations to being energy efficient. Improvements to your home can significantly reduce how much you spend every year on energy costs. For others, motivation for energy efficiency comes from being able to reduce emissions and protect our environment. Whatever the reason, successful energy efficiency goals must focus on the multiple aspects of energy use.
At the Energy Center, residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and transportation energy use are all significant when it comes to research, demonstration and education initiatives that benefit Iowans. Much of the Energy Center’s collaborative research takes place at the Energy Resource Station (ERS). The ERS is designed to test and demonstrate multiple, full-scale commercial building heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
