The recently awarded DOE grant for $1.03 million to the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU), and the Iowa Environmental Council for their participation in the Statewide Solar Readiness Initiative was partially funded by a matching grant of $21,316 from the Iowa Energy Center. Not long after the program became available earlier this summer, the IEDA and IAMU applied for Iowa Energy Center’s matching grant to support the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Sun Shot Initiative funding.  Read more about the IEDA’s plans for the $1.03 million grant here.

Iowa Energy Center’s new three-tier Competitive Grants program is designed specifically to help Iowa organizations, like IEDA and IAMU, successfully attract external funding. The matching grant program has $600,000 to assist eligible institutions in meeting matching or cost-sharing requirements for funding opportunities in response to federal, state, or private-sector solicitations. The cap for a single project is $200,000 with no more than 20 percent match or cost share against the total funding expected. The Energy Center focuses on supporting projects related specifically to energy research, development, demonstration, deployment, education and workforce development. Learn more about the matching grant program here.
