  • NREL releases Advanced Energy Retrofit Guides

The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), a partner of the Department of Energy (DOE), developed and released the Advanced Energy Retrofit Guides (AERG) to help renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in grocery stores,  k-12 schools, and retail/office buildings plan, design, and implement energy retrofit projects. The guides also provide methods for calculating cost-effectiveness of retrofit implementation as well as examples of successful implementations.

If you’re looking to incorporate energy efficiency in new construction projects, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-conditions Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) have developed a set of advanced energy design guides (AEDG) for new construction. Download the AEDG guides here - hard copies are also available for purchase.
