  • DOE releases the Sensor Characteristic Reference Guide

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Building Technologies Office (BTO) released the Sensor Characteristics Reference Guide to identify the current status, capabilities, and limitations of sensor technologies and to provide technical insight on the design and procurement process of sensor systems. The guide will be used for the successful implementation of new sensor systems by identifying research priorities, developing future specifications for potential market adoption, and providing market clarity. This will be accomplished through four “major approaches”:

  • Power Generation/Storage
  • Communications and Networking
  • Signal Data Aggregator
  • Signal Conversion to Data

The goal is for the new sensors to successfully capture 30% energy savings.
