  • How the winter moratorium will affect you

Keep your eye on your heater this winter as this season could be one of the highest consuming winter seasons yet. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that there may be a higher consumption of electricity and heating fuels once the temperature begins to drop. Iowans are encouraged to participate in the Home Weatherization Program to get ready for this winter and help reduce the use of electricity and heating fuels.

This winter moratorium will be in affect until April 1, 2013, and Iowans are asked to contact their local Community Action Agency to apply for Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program if needed or to request an application for Weatherization Program. Be sure to check out the requirements for the LIHEAP and Weatherization programs.
